Midline Design is my independent design studio, built around a simple idea. Good work, done properly, by someone who understands brands from the inside out.

I’m a designer with more than 25 years’ experience working in brand, packaging and FMCG. For the past two decades I’ve worked closely with some of the UK’s best known food brands, helping shape everything from new product launches to full range refreshes and ongoing packaging development, as well as photography, campaign visuals and everyday packaging artwork.

Food brands move quickly. Deadlines are tight, products evolve and retailers demand change. I’m used to that environment. I work fast, stay responsive and keep things straightforward.

A big part of my career has been long term relationships. I’ve worked with Albert Bartlett for over 25 years, Scotty Brand for more than 16 years, and Genius Gluten Free for over 12. That kind of continuity only happens when the work is solid and dependable. Once brands start working with me they tend to keep coming back.

My experience covers the full design process. Concept design, brand development, packaging systems, visualisation, photography direction and finished artwork. I’m particularly strong on the technical side of packaging. Print, colour, materials, legal requirements, barcodes, nutritionals and all the detail that sits behind FMCG packaging. I’ve produced thousands of artworks over the years and know how to take ideas all the way through to press ready files without drama.

I also support other studios and agencies who bring me in when they need experienced help on packaging projects or artwork heavy jobs. Often when deadlines are tight or extra capacity is needed. I slot in easily, get up to speed quickly and deliver work that fits naturally into the wider project.

Midline Design is just me, which is exactly how I like it. Clients deal directly with the person doing the thinking and the designing. It keeps communication simple, turnaround times quick and costs sensible.
